Anti-Ageing Injections
BOTOX®/Azzalure/ Bocouture injections are the world’s most popular non-surgical anti-ageing treatments, due to the results that can be achieved with skilled practitioners. They work by temporarily blocking fine muscle activity, which allows the skin to relax so that lines appear softer and smoother.
Many areas of the face can benefit from subtle treatment, some of the more commonly requested areas for men and women are to soften the frown area, as well as around the eyes (more commonly referred to as the “crows feet”), and the horizontal lines across the forehead. Through the use of this treatment, particularly over time, even more established lines will visibly reduce. It is also used to treat excessive underarm sweating
The first step of the process to having any cosmetic process at AMP skin and laser clinic is to arrange a consultation. This entails a discussion about what you are trying to achieve, as well as taking a medical history. Only then are we able to recommend the most appropriate treatment to suit your needs.
How safe is Botulinum toxin?
Botulinum toxin type A (many will know this as the popular BOTOX® brand), is a prescription-only drug and remains one of the most widely researched with considerable evidence to support its use both medicinally and cosmetically all over the world, used in young and old. It also has FDA approval for use in cosmetic medicine.
Which lines may I have treated with Botulinum Toxin?
Botulinum toxin can be used to treat many lines on the face, around the mouth, the neck, improve the definition of the jawline as well as the more commonly treated areas on the upper face. Results may take from 2-14 days to show the final results from the single treatment, occasionally a dose adjustment may be necessary which is included in the price.
How long does it last?
Results typically last 3-4 months. With repeated treatments results may last longer, particularly in the forehead.
What are the possible side effects?
Side effects can include local swelling and a nettle-like sting for a few minutes up to an hour, bruising and headache. These tend to be mild and settled with paracetemol, if needed. Rare side effects include temporary heaviness of the eyebrows or eyelids. These tend to improve within a few weeks.
Is there anything that I need to avoid after treatment?
It is important to avoid rubbing the area that’s been injected for the first few hours, certainly to withhold any beauty treatments such as a facial as this may encourage the product to spread away from the target muscle which could result in a temporary ‘droop.’ Remaining in an upright position for the first few hours also helps to reduce this risk.
What about Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are an alternative injectable treatment. Rather than relaxing the muscles, fillers work to add volume into deep lines such as the nose-to-mouth or forehead lines. They can also be used to add volume to the lips.
